Strategy #1 for a Seven-Figure New Year

In the next series of posts I am going to be sharing 5 New Strategies for a Seven-Figure New Year.
A lot of times we hear a new idea and we say “I’m going to do that in my business” and before we know it, that new idea has been thrown in a pile never to be looked at again.
The reason is this, when we say yes to everything, very little gets done. So this year I want to challenge you to make new decisions. Make new decisions about how you are going to run your business, what you are going to allow in and what you’re going to send out and then ACT on them.
This can be a very powerful shift to make – and it always starts with our thoughts. Think about all of the decisions you make about your business on a daily basis. Then consider this…
What decision have you made about failing? What about building an empire? Or making a bunch of money? Have you decided these things are good – or bad? If you are unsure about the decisions you have made about those issues, give yourself some time to review. What did you decide you were going to do because you learned it at a seminar, you saw someone implement it with great success or your coach or mentor shared it with you but then you never did anything to see it through? Do you realize that right there you may have made a decision about failing?
You also made a decision about failing if you let one of your fears, perhaps the fear of rejection, guide your actions. I see that all of the time with my clients so I remind them of this…the fear of rejection is far more painful than actual rejection.
It’s amazing to me how many people limit their success because of what they BELIEVE about an outcome. And guess what – it’s all made up anyway so why not believe something positive about it.
Failure is just a way of seeing you were on the wrong track. It teaches you something. Your job is to get back up, dust off, and try something else.
An empire is something you decide to create to make a bigger impact on the world. How you do it and what you do with your lifestyle along the way are completely up to you. But many limit their growth because they are afraid they will have to give up something important. Hooey. That’s the old decision. Make a new one!
What decision are you going to make for your business today and what are you going to DO about it before the day is done?

Hi Melanie,
Thanks for the post. This is a great reminder that we get what we focus on. Over the past several months, I have been making a choice to focus on the positve and to take action. The progress made in such a short period of time because of that choice has been astounding. As I am seeing results, that reinforces my choice to take the next step toward positive change. I appreciate the timeliness of your post.
Take care,

Hello Melanie,
Most of us already know the reality of what you have written above, but reading it again only reiterates that it is up to us to make the choice to move forward, not let obstacles stand in our way – if our dream is to grow our business and prosper, then it is up to us to make it happen.
Thank you for reminding me of that.
Cheers

Your post is timely. I made the decision today (my birthday) to stop logging into my shopping cart system and my FTP server. I’m technical, I love being under the hood, but doing these things are causing me to act more like a project manager and less like a CEO.
I have already put together 2 process documents and made a few email templates so my VA can take over all the techie stuff that I can’t seem to let go of. It’ll be hard, but I have to go “cold turkey” otherwise my 7 figure success will NEVER happen.

Good for you Leesa! I was just asking the question how can a VA help a bottlenecked CEO through the process of letting go. You have helped me to see that I am on the right track with developing processes to help the CEO see that some things can be let go of with the right written documentation is in place. It seems like that really did make you feel more confident about turning over the shopping cart to your VA.

Gee, I know my reason is Fear. I have never been that way until lately. I guess it is because it’s a different direction. My husband and I have been Entreprenuers off and on for years now. My husband had a business he had for 10 years, and I had a giftbasket business for 7 years.
Now, we have decided to be in business together. This is our first B2B type business. I know I have a Great service, now I just need to go out and Do It! Just like Nike says!

Hello Melanie,
I decided to expand my business last year. The system I found was simple, yet I lost my focus by becoming too involved with becoming an internet “guru”. The actions I took were not income producing activities and soon I was lost in the labyrinth of businesses that were not congruent to who I am. This was a great learning experience in clearly defining my values and where to focus. Now I love what I do!
Enjoy
Marie
