Strategy #3 for a Seven-Figure New Year

Do you want to have a multi-million dollar business but you’re still making decisions based on your 6-figure business? That’s what I see with a lot of my client. They make decisions based on where they are right now and what has happened in the past. But, the truth, is the strategies that got you to 6 figures are not the same as the ones that will get you to 7 and 8 figures.
So, you have to play “up” a few levels by making decisions and implementing strategies that are a few levels higher.
For instance, one of my clients was always in baby step mode. She took the step that logically came next but that never gave her a huge payoff. She was frustrated that her growth was taking sooooo long. When I challenged her to think a few levels bigger and to try out some strategies that were a bit scary for her, she had a huge a-ha that allowed her to go from 300k/yr into the multi-millions.
Even if you aren’t there yet, playing the game with that bigger outcome in mind causes you to make much better decisions for your resources today. That’s part of the CEO mindset.
What was the most “up-leveling” moment in your business that allowed you to have a huge breakthrough?

Melanie,
I have to give you a shout out on this one: My most “up-leveling” moment in my business (so far) has been connecting with tried and true veterans in this business like yourself! When the thought came to me to start thinking big, I had never heard of the CEO Factor. I was praying for mentors and have since been led to seven wonderful, beautiful women full of POWER that I am so excited to learn from- and you’re one of them!

For me it was attending the Master Trainer Camp last year in Santa Barbara. The connections I made and the energy/support have kept me motivated and pressing on to go bigger and better every day. I’m finally ready to roll out my own program that I developed after the Camp and am looking forward to breaking through to unlimited prosperity! Like your friend, I’ve been taking baby steps. Time to learn to jump!

My biggest up-leveling in my CEO mindset change has been to start acting like I am already where I want to be really!! So I talked a good game but I didn’t really make any big leap decisons because I thought my position was too small. But really it doesn’t matter.
I want to be a multi-VA firm so that means that for me thinking like a CEO is finding clients but not doing their work myself. Just today I was struggling over a RFP that I wanted to answer but my mind was saying how can you do any more work. Then it hit me, I am not supposed to do the work. I need to find new busienss based on the fact that the other VAs will be handling the work. That’s an old though process for me that crops up and can have the effect of stopping my growth. I know that might seem like a really small step to some but for me it was huge.

Up-Leveling Move? Went part time with my corporate gig (of 15 years, expanded my personal business to brick and mortar, and hired staff. Staff knows that my business needs to run as if I will never be at my desk, so that I can always focus on what I NEED to do vs. what I might become compelled to do if I am just browsing around the office. My staff is awesome and getting better every day!

Hi Melanie,
These posts are great. When I started my business, my goal was to double my current income. Then I opened up to the reality that not just a multiple six figure income was attainable, but that could easily become seven figures. Deciding this can really propel one out of your comfort zone. I push aside any doubts, knowing along the way that I may or may not have challenges, but the rewards for myself and others propel me to charge ahead. For me, there is no returning to where I started. I take the attitude, “If they can do it, so can I” I can’t even imagine a life that does no include personal growth and change.
I appreciate what you are sharing.
Marie
